Stewart Wilson

Editor

One of the international aviation community's most prolific writers. Stewart has been 'mucking around with aeroplanes' since he was a kid. He is the author of 59 books and over the years has written hundreds of articles for magazines and other publications along with video/DVD scripts and many other projects.

Before joining AERO Australia as its founding editor in 2003, Stewart was the senior news editor and specialist writer for Australian Aviation magazine for 18 years. He has also been the editor of the Australian International AirShow official programme since 2001 and will continue in that role for the 2009 show.

Stewart's background is as a formally trained musician and the first part of his working life was in various aspects of both the classical and rock music fields. At the same time he indulged in his other two loves, flying and motor racing. A successful motor racing book published in 1978 gradually led to a change of career to full-time writing and publishing.

When planning AERO Australia, Stewart wanted a publication with wide appeal, covering both historical and contemporary subjects, military and civil. He remembers thinking: "there's no rule that says you can't have both high quality words and high quality presentation - illustrations and design - in a publication", and that is the philosophy applied to the magazine.

Stewart believes that AERO Australia has set new standards and its success proves the point. He is grateful to all who have helped make it so - its loyal and enthusiastic contributors, advertisers and most importantly, readers.
