John Freedman

Photographer and aviation enthusiast

Not so young and extremely single (in need of a good woman). A self confessed aviation nut, John became interested in flying later in life gaining his Private Pilot's Licence and then competing in aerobatic flying.

John became interested in aviation in 1987 and travelled to the US to visit many aviation museums and air shows. Since then aviation has been a passion and finally an obsession.

John worked in the Australian Television Industry for over 15 years. He started in the videotape department before transferring to news where he did ENG editing. For five years John was at the Channel Nine Gold Coast News Bureau doing news camera and editing.

John has received numerous awards for his camera and editing skills from the Australian Cinematographers Society, including three Gold, four Silver and four highly commended awards. He received national recognition with an Award of Distinction for Cinematography for his coverage of the Stabbing Murders at Main Beach on the Gold Coast.

As a freelance photojournalist John has had numerous articles published in Australian aviation magazines including AERO Australia, Flightpath and the Australian Aerobatics Club magazine.

Based in Brisbane, John hopes to one day find a woman to share his interests in aviation, photography and computers. At the moment John is based in Decatur, Illinois working as Chief Camerman for the local TV station and covering most of the major air shows in the US in his spare time.
