AERO Australia news
What are we doing?
AERO Australia takes a full three months to create. Stewart has a long list of things he wishes to include in the magazine. By the time you are happily reading the lastest issue he is well and truly entrenched in preparing and writing the next issue.
This means the magazine takes up most of our lives. It allows little time for any other interests. So when we visit distant air shows it means even longer hours at the computer to keep up with the magazine's demanding schedule.
7/1/09 AERO Australia special magazine, Warbirds of Australian and New Zeland 2009 will go on sale in both countries today. This is the cover so you know what you are looking for.
(20/1/2009) Vale Tom Moon. Tom was killed today in an aeroplane accident at Temora. We are stunned as Tom was one of the best aerobatic pilots Australia has produced. We offer our heartfelt condolences to Tom's family and the team at Temora Aviation Museum (his other family). Tom will be sorely missed.
(25/2/2009) Vale Pip Borrman. Pip was killed today while practising for the Australian International AirShow. This is a heavy blow as we've been working with Pip for a feature in the Avalon show programme. Our photographer Ryan Fletcher had done a aerial photo shoot with Pip for this publication.
Today is print day for the programme, so with a leaden heart Stewart has changed the feature to a memoriam for both Pip and Tom Moon. We will be getting to press late. We will miss you terribly Pip. May you and Tom enjoy the aerobatic heavens together.
(5/3/2009) AERO Australia has a stand inside the Exhibition Expo. We are in the north west corner opposite Boeing Corporation. Please come along and say hello to the team. You will be able to organise the purchase of this show's official DVD and buy Stewart Wilson's latest and 59th book which is being launched at 11am at the show on Friday afternoon. The book is a biography on the life of Tony Gaze called 'Almost Unknown'. Tony was anAustralian Spitfire ace in WW11 with the RAF and a Grand Prix racing driver.

Tony Gaze will be attending the book launch and will be available on AERO's stand at 2.30pm to speak to afterwards. By any measure, Tony's life has been an extraordinary one and his list of achievements remarkable. Make sure you come along and learn more!
(19/3/09) The Avalon air show was a success despite the weather. Stewart's book launch went off well and lots of books were sold. Those who attended the book signing were able to have their photograph taken with both Tony and Stewart to record the moment. It was lots of fun.

This year's show was sad because it marked the passing of the wonderful General Dynamics F-111 and the irreplaceable De Havilland Canada Caribou. The Caribou will retire from RAAF service later this year and the show stopping F-111 retires in 2010. How will we mark major events on the Australian calendar without the dump and burn of the F-111? Can't imagine the F-35 making us stop and watch!
